Connectivity Guide for Fiji
byCharles McQuainFiji has three mobile networks: Vodafone Fiji, by far the largest; Digicel Fiji, owned by Australia's Telstra since 2022; and Telecom Fiji. 5G is brand new here. Vodafone and Digicel switched it on in September 2025 in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, and Denarau, and Telecom Fiji followed in December 2025, but most of the country is still on 4G. Travel eSIMs are split between the two big networks — some use Vodafone, others Digicel — so check the network column if you're heading somewhere remote.
On Viti Levu, coverage is good in Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka, and Suva, and along the Coral Coast road. Out on the islands it varies: most Mamanuca resorts have signal, the Yasawas are patchy and depend on the resort, and coverage on Taveuni is very limited. If you're island-hopping, ask each resort about phone signal and Wi-Fi before you book.
There's no Uber or Bolt in Fiji, so you'll use taxis, hotel transfers, and boat transfers. At Nadi Airport, take one of the licensed airport taxis. Having data on arrival makes it easy to message your resort or transfer company and to check ferry times to the outer islands.
Heading to the Yasawas or Taveuni?
Don't plan on reliable data once you leave Viti Levu and the Mamanucas. Save your booking confirmations and download offline maps before you take the ferry, and treat any signal on the outer islands as a bonus.
