Connectivity Guide for Armenia
byCharles McQuainArmenia has three mobile networks: Viva (formerly VivaCell-MTS), Team (formerly Beeline Armenia), and Ucom. Ucom says its 5G reached all of Armenia's cities by November 2025, covering more than 94% of the population, and Viva has 5G in central Yerevan and Gyumri. Expect 4G as the baseline elsewhere.
Yerevan is well covered, and so are day-trip favorites like Garni, Geghard, Khor Virap, Lake Sevan, and Dilijan. Service gets less reliable on mountain roads and in remote valleys in the south, including stretches of the long drive to Tatev and Goris, so download offline maps for longer road trips.
Yandex Go and the local GG app are the usual ride apps in Yerevan, and they're cheap. Yandex Maps and 2GIS often have better local detail than Google Maps. WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber are all widely used, and a translation app helps outside the capital, where Armenian and Russian are far more common than English.
Combining Armenia With Georgia?
Many visitors pair Yerevan with Tbilisi. An Armenia-only eSIM stops working once you cross into Georgia, so add a separate Georgia plan or check that a regional plan lists both countries.
