In September 2026 Melita agreed to buy Epic, but the deal still needs regulatory approval, and the two keep operating separately until then. It doesn't change how your eSIM works today.
The islands are small and densely built, and 4G reaches about 99% of the population. Expect dependable data in Valletta, the Three Cities, Sliema, St. Julian's, Mdina, and across Gozo. Comino is almost uninhabited, so don't count on steady service on a Blue Lagoon day trip, and save anything you need before the boat leaves.
Bolt and eCabs are the main ride apps, and the tallinja app covers buses across Malta and Gozo. English is an official language, so apps, menus, and booking sites are easy to use. WhatsApp is a common way to reach boat operators and restaurants.
Visiting More of Europe?
Malta is in the EU, so a Europe-wide eSIM usually includes it, which can be simpler if Malta is one stop of several. Check that Malta is on the plan's country list before you buy. If you already have a SIM from an EU carrier, EU roaming rules generally apply here too.
