Connectivity Guide for Slovenia
byCharles McQuainSlovenia has three mobile networks: Telekom Slovenije, A1 Slovenija, and Telemach. All three run 5G, and Telekom Slovenije reports reaching 99% of the population with it by the end of 2025. Opensignal's 2026 report put Telekom Slovenije first for coverage and 5G coverage.
Ljubljana, Maribor, Bled, Bohinj, Piran, and the motorways are well covered. Service gets patchy in the Julian Alps, including parts of the Soča and Trenta valleys, the Vršič Pass, and Triglav National Park's high trails, and deep inside the Postojna and Škocjan caves.
Slovenia is compact and easy to drive, and many visitors combine it with Croatia, Italy, or Austria. Data is handy for maps, train and bus times, and parking apps in Ljubljana and at Lake Bled, where spaces fill fast in summer.
Buy Your Motorway e-Vignette Online
Driving on Slovenia's motorways requires an e-vignette, sold online and linked to your license plate. Rental cars usually have one, but if you're driving in from a neighboring country, buy it before you reach the motorway, which is much easier with data.
