Holafly eSIM Review 2026

Holafly uses a per-day pricing model, which makes the math straightforward. Plans run from 1 to 90 days in most destinations, and the daily rate drops the longer you buy — in most destinations a 5-day plan is $20.50 ($4.10/day), while a 30-day plan is $73.90 ($2.46/day).

For a typical 7-day trip, expect to pay $27.50 in most destinations ($23.90-$53.90 elsewhere). That's well above Airalo's 5GB/7-day Japan plan ($10), and Holafly rarely wins for heavy users either: Maya Mobile's 7-day unlimited plan is a flat $19.99 in every country we track, and Airalo's 7-day unlimited is $26.50 in Japan.

You can usually find Holafly discount codes from travel bloggers and YouTubers (which makes sense, given how heavily they sponsor creators). 5-10% off is common and easy to find, and Holafly also has its own HolaCoins cashback and a referral program.

Holafly covers 200+ destinations, including the ones most people actually go to — Western Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and the Americas. If your trip is off the beaten path, double-check that your destination has a plan before committing.

Where they do have coverage, the network quality is strong. Holafly partners with premium carriers like Softbank in Japan and Movistar in Spain, so you're getting real local network speeds, not some throttled middleman connection. Some plans even include 5G where carriers have rolled it out.

One important detail: the unlimited data applies to your phone's connection, but hotspot/tethering is a separate thing. Some plans support it, others don't, and those that do may have daily limits on tethered usage. If sharing your connection with a laptop is important, check the specific plan details.

The setup is simple: purchase on their website or app, get a QR code via email, scan it on your phone. Takes about 5 minutes. Nothing complicated if you've ever installed an app.

The app itself is functional but — if I'm being honest — it's not as polished as Airalo's. It handles the basics fine: purchasing, activating, checking your plan status. One nice touch is that Holafly sends email reminders before your plan expires, which is helpful if your trip runs long.

Holafly doesn't do traditional data top-ups like Airalo, but since the plans are unlimited data, you won't run out of data mid-plan — only time. And since September 30, 2026, you can add extra days to the same eSIM without reinstalling it, so trip extensions are much less of a hassle.

This is where Holafly genuinely pulls ahead of the competition. Their 24/7 support team is reachable via live chat, email, and WhatsApp, and they support multiple languages including English, Spanish, French, and German.

Based on user reports I've reviewed, live chat responses typically come within 5-15 minutes — and the agents are actually helpful, not just reading from a script. Compare that to Airalo, where support during peak travel season can take hours. If you're someone who isn't super comfortable troubleshooting tech issues on your own (or if you're buying an eSIM for a parent or less tech-savvy travel companion), Holafly's support alone might justify the price premium.
