Yesim eSIM Review 2026

Yesim offers three pricing models, which gives it more flexibility than most competitors. Standard data plans work like Airalo and Saily: fixed data allowances for fixed prices. Unlimited plans offer uncapped data for a daily rate, similar to Holafly. And the Pay & Fly option lets you load Ycoins into a wallet and pay per-MB as you use data across 170+ countries, which suits infrequent travelers who don't want to commit to a plan at all.

The trial eSIM at 500 MB for $0.60 is genuinely exceptional. No other major provider offers this low a commitment for testing their service. For context, Airalo's cheapest plans start at $4, and Saily's at $1.99. If you've never used an eSIM before or want to verify Yesim works with your device before a trip, the trial removes virtually all financial risk.

Value is further enhanced by the 5% cashback on all purchases and a 20% discount if you enable auto-renewal. Yesim also accepts cryptocurrency payments, which is unusual in the eSIM space. Hotspot and tethering are usually allowed at no extra cost (it depends on the local operator), something Holafly and even some Airalo plans restrict. The combination of cashback, auto-renewal discounts, and generous tethering makes Yesim's effective pricing more competitive than the sticker price suggests.

Yesim covers 200+ countries through 800+ carrier partnerships, matching Airalo for the broadest coverage among eSIM providers we track. This includes the usual popular destinations plus harder-to-reach markets in Africa, Central Asia, and the Pacific Islands where smaller providers have gaps. The carrier partner count is notably high, which means better redundancy and more options for strong signal in each destination.

SwitchLess Technology is the defining network feature. Rather than locking you to a single carrier per plan, Yesim dynamically routes your connection to the strongest available network in your location. Cross a border from France into Germany, and the handoff happens automatically. This is a genuine advantage over Airalo, where multi-country travel requires either a more expensive regional plan or installing separate local eSIMs for each destination.

Network quality runs primarily on 4G/LTE, with typical speeds of 20-60 Mbps in tested markets. 5G availability depends on carrier partnerships in each country and isn't guaranteed. Yesim doesn't enforce a fair-use policy on its unlimited plans, but local partner networks may apply their own, so heavy data users should be aware that speeds can still be managed at the network level.

The Yesim app is available on both iOS and Android, with strong ratings across platforms: 4.6 on iOS and 4.7 on Android. The interface is functional and covers plan browsing, purchase, activation, and data usage tracking. One friction point: you must create an account before you can browse plans or prices, which is less welcoming than Airalo's approach of letting you explore first and sign up at checkout.

The built-in VPN on iOS is a genuine differentiator. It encrypts your traffic when connected to public Wi-Fi networks, which is exactly the situation most travelers find themselves in at airports, hotels, and cafes. No other major eSIM provider bundles VPN functionality into their app. The limitation is that this feature is iOS-only, and Yesim hasn't announced Android support, so Android users will need a separate VPN app.

Virtual phone numbers round out the feature set. For $7.20 per month, you can get a US, UK, Canadian, or Dutch phone number that receives SMS. This is useful for travelers who need a number for two-factor authentication and one-time passcodes while abroad. The Activate Later feature is also worth noting: plan pages say to activate within 180 days of purchase (90 on some plans), so you can stock up during promotions and activate when you actually travel.

Yesim provides 24/7 live chat support plus email, with replies averaging around 5 minutes according to Yesim. That's quick by eSIM-industry standards and comparable to Holafly's well-regarded support.

The 30-day refund policy on unused plans is more generous than industry standard. Airalo's refunds mainly cover installation problems or an eSIM that doesn't work, while Yesim offers a 30-day window for plans that remain unused. Combined with the trial eSIM option, this creates a low-risk purchasing experience. The company's Swiss incorporation under Genesis Group AG also provides a layer of regulatory accountability that startup eSIM providers based in less regulated jurisdictions can't match.

Trustpilot ratings sit at 4.3, which is solid though slightly below Airalo's 4.5. The B2B dashboard for organizations suggests Yesim is building for enterprise customers alongside consumers, which signals long-term investment in the platform. With 4 million+ users, the company has reached a scale where it's clearly beyond the startup survival risk that plagues smaller eSIM providers.
